First Copy Presentation of Spirit of India to author APJ Abdul Kalam

July 14, 2010, New Delhi: APJ Abdul Kalam was presented with the first copy of his latest book Spirit of India, at a private “First Copy Presentation” function at his residence. The book has been published by Rajpal & Sons, and the first copy of the book was presented by the director of the firm, Meera Johri. In this book, the former President has given his views on the various challenges facing the country, namely divisive politics, economic inequalities, increasing terror, unrest at our borders, naxalism, and corruption and his solutions to these problems. The author talks about how the nation can steer through these obstacles in trying to achieve the goal of providing opportunities and prosperity for all its citizens.

The function was also significant for the presentation of the 100,000th copy of his international bestseller, Indomitable Spirit, to the former President. This landmark book by Dr. Kalam has been translated into 8 Indian and 3 foreign languages, making it amongst the very few select Indian books that have been published by an Indian publisher and translated into foreign languages. The 100,000th copy marks the launch of the paperback edition of Indomitable Spirit, which was first published by Rajpal & Sons in November 2006 with an initial print run of 25,000 copies.
